PM: No discrimination against Tamils
PM Rajapakse
PM says there are extremists in all countries
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse says Sinhala Buddhists have not discriminated against the Tamils in delivering tsunami relief aid.

He says there were no reports that the Buddhists in Sri Lanka oppose to the distribution of tsunami relief aid equitably to Tamil community.

Answering questions by bbcsinhala.com users, the PM says he knew about the details of the Joint Mechanism (JM) to share tsunami relief aid with Tamil Tigers, as the document was published in the print media before it was signed.

The PM admits, however, that there are Sinhala extremists in Sri Lanka. But the Tamil community, he says, have lived in Sri Lanka in peace and harmony.

PM Rajapakse also says that he is taking steps to speed up the Colombo-Matara highway project.
