Jathika Bhikku Peramuna(National Monks Front) and Desha Hithaisee Jathika Vyaparaya(National Patriotic Front) by petitions to courts asked to issue an injunction order to the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance preventing funds being released for the implementation of the tsunami joint mechanism.

The two petitions to the district court, Colombo were filed by the Ven.Elle Gunawansa thero for National Patriotic Front and the Ven.Dambara Amila thero for National Monks Front.

They said in their petitions that the joint mechanism between the government and the LTTE was signed against the constitution and therefore to release funds from the Sri lankan government to an illegal mechanism would also be illegal.

The two fronts named in their petitions Secretary to the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Resettlement, and Refugees M.S Jayasinghe, Deputy Head of Planning and Development of the LTTE, Shanmugalingam Ranjan, Secretary to the President S.J.Karunaratne and Secretary to the Ministry of Finance P.B.Jayasundera as defendants.
