Government and Tigers are excluding Muslims-Rauf Hakeem
The Muslims of the East need to be represented as a separate entity within the Tsunami rehabilitation frame work says the Muslim congress.

Rauf Hakeem leader of the Muslim Congress speaking to Sandeshya said “we understand that the government is in the process of negotiating a mechanism with the Tamil Tigers on a relief mechanism and this has been done without consulting us”

The leader of the Muslim congress said that he is in the process of discussing with other Muslim groups on how the Muslims should be represented within the Tsunami rehabilitation process.

Sandeshaya questioned Hakeem why he could not resolve the differences, if any with the government rather than putting forward a political demand at a time when urgent action is needed.

Responding to the question he said that the Muslims in the East have elected them in order to represent them within the decision making process and it’s the Muslim Congress that should decide what’s the best form of representation.

Minister of Constitutional affairs DEW Guneskara who spoke to Sandeshaya said that the President will ensure that all Muslim political parties will receive fair representation within any relief mechanism once in action.
