Youth killed in Batticaloa

A rifle was found close to the body
A man was found shot dead on Monday evening in government controlled Kommathurai in Batticaloa.

The body was identified as of 22 year old Sambunathan Shashidharan also known as Boby who is a resident of the LTTE controlled Illuppadichainai area.

Eravur police said the investigations have revealed that he was shot by an unidentified person while travelling with another on a bicycle.

Later a T-56 rifle, two empty bullets, LTTE identity no and a bicycle was found abandoned by the near by area the police added.

At the post mortem on Tuesday, Ambihapathy, wife of the victim revealed that the husband who was a member of the Tamil Tiger intelligence unit.

An LTTE spokesman said that their organisation has no link to this person.

Eight days ago a group including the Eastern political leader of the LTTE and a former parliamentarian was killed in an ambush by suspected paramilitaries in government controlled territory.
