The government has invited the LTTE to take part in the national programme of providing relief to those affected by the tidal wave Tsunami.

The government is working shoulder to shoulder with the LTTE in delivering relief to the north and east, says Presidential spokesman Harim Pieris.

Speaking to BBC Sandesaya from Jaffna, Pieris who is also the Director General of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction for North & East said that the Government has written to the political leadership of the LTTE SP Thamilselvan.

Peiris said the president’s office has invited the LTTE to participate in the government’s relief process in the national as well as regional level.

Rejecting accusations that the government’s delivery mechanism being ineffective in the north & east he said these claims are merely political.
