| | Vel may mean 'the holy weapon', but this movie portrays something completely different. It focuses more on the importance of family ties. The film is said to be action packed, but it also depicts Indian sentimental values at the same time. Actress Asin Thottumkal is seen playing the role of an innocent village girl who strongly believes in culture and tradition. Looking lovely in spectacles, Asin plays the energetic television presenter, Miranda Meenakshi. Actor Surya Sivakumar will be seen in a double role in this family drama playing a rough and rugged villager with a righteous nature. His other role is being kept a closely guarded secret, although it is said to form a major twist in this tale. Vel comes from the film producer Mohan Natarajan who had previously produced Kannukkul Nilavu starring Vijay and Aalvar starring Ajith. Hari, who has given recurrent box office hits like Saamy, Aiyaa and Thaamirabharani is directing this movie. The film's shooting took place in Karaikudi, Pollachi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kutralam whilst musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is proving very popular with Tamil fans. Vel is being released in selected UK cinemas by Ayngaran International Ltd during this Diwali celebrations.
