Ishaan Awasthi is an eight year old whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate. | Aamir & Darsheel |
Things like colours, fish, dogs and kites are just not important in the world of adults, who are much more interested in homework, marks and neatness. But Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class. When he gets into more trouble, his parents pack him off to a boarding school to 'be disciplined'. Realising that life is no different at his new school, Ishaan is forced to contend with the added trauma of separation from his family. One fine day a new art teacher bursts onto the scene- Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan)- who brings joy and optimism to the students. Breaking all rules, of 'how things are done' he asks the children to think, dream and imagine. | Film poster |
They all respond with enthusiasm, with the exception of Ishaan making Nikumbh realise that this young boy is very unhappy. So he sets out to discover why and with time, patience and care, he ultimately helps Ishaan to find himself in this moving drama from UTV Motion Pictures. Taare Zameen Par meaning Stars on Earth is directed and produced by debutante director Aamir Khan accompanied by Amol Gupte. This moving tale stars Aamir Khan in the lead role playing a teacher to a dyslexic child (Darsheel Safary).
