| | The most awaited Tamil film starring Ajith who plays a suave and classy character whilst Nayantara is seen playing an action orientated role. | A scene from the Tamil film, Billa |
Directed by Vishnu Vardhan, this movie revolving around the life and times of a gangster (Ajith), is a remake of the blockbuster film, Billa (1981), starring Rajini and Sripriya in the lead roles. This new version is also said to be inspired by the Bollywood film, Don which starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role alongside Arjun Rampal and Priyanka Chopra. Billa (Ajith) heads a narcotic gang smuggling and shipping drugs to Malaysia. His gang consists of Narang (Santhanam) and Anita (Namitha) who also happens to be Billa's love interest. | A scene from the Tamil film, Billa |
DCP (Prakash Raj) soon sets a trap to pin down the whole gang that is increasingly threatening and menacing to society in general. The film is extensively shot in the metropolitan city of Malaysia and consists of well choreographed action and stunts sequences never seen before in Tamil Cinema. Other star cast includes Prabhu and Rahman whose roles revolve around the central bureau of investigations whilst Namitha is seen in a glamorous role. Billa is releasing in selected UK cinemas by Ayngaran International this December 2007. Previewed by Manish Gajjar, BBC Tamil Correspondent |
