| | Azhigiye Tamil Magan (meaning handsome Tamilian) marks a very important phase in Tamil cinema. That's because popular actor Vijay, is playing a double role for the very first time in his 15 year film career. | The Tamil film: Azhigiye Tamil Magan |
This Tamil drama revolves around two characters namely Guru and Prasad, both played by Vijay himself. The film focuses mainly on their contrasting characteristics - one is a hooligan (the villain) whilst the other is a loyalist (the hero). How their respective lifestyles influence each other forms the crux of this film which has been produced on a grand scale. Director Barathan, who has worked as an associate to director Dharani for movies like Dhil, Dhool and Gilli, makes his debut in this film. Popular actress, Shriya plays one of the leading roles whilst Namitha is the surprise package. | The Tamil film: Azhigiye Tamil Magan |

The shooting for the fight sequences, which took place in Hyderabad, is said to have taken 50 days to complete. Exotic locations in Karaikudi and Pollachi have also been used in filming.
