A Bollywood DVD counterfeiter has been jailed by Oldham magistrates for six months. Farooq Khawaja (49) of Lee Street, Oldham, admitted 38 offences of having counterfeit DVDs in his possession for supply. The court was told that Khawaja had all of the paraphernalia to manufacture counterfeit DVDs in his possession. Trading standards officers from Oldham Council raided his premises, Khawaja International, also on Lee Street, on 25 May 2005, and again on 26 October that year. Since then Khawaja did everything he could to evade the courts. Councillor David Hibbert, cabinet member for environment and regeneration, said: "Anyone involved in counterfeiting, no matter what the goods are, can expect to be dealt with harshly by the courts."
