In the past, Tips has launched budding actors such as Preity Zinta, Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao. They are once more launching another stunner, in looks and performance in the form of Urvashi Sharma.
Like most renowned heroines in Bollywood, Urvashi started her career as a model. Having been the face of quite a few cosmetic companies, Urvashi soon conquered the modelling circuit by her sheer beauty, grace and professionalism. With striking features and poise, she rapidly made her way into Bollywood and got herself a lucrative contract with Tips Films.
Naqaab, directed by the masters of the thriller genre Abbas-Mustan, is Urvashi's very first film. She exudes terrific screen presence, which is noticeable in the promos currently being broadcast on Asian satellite channels.
Ramose Terrain, head of Tips Music explained her role in the film, as a character integral to the plot. "We have kept her under wraps. We want the audience to judge her performance unbiased," says Terrain. The mystery in the thriller revolves around Urvashi. Although this character would normally have demanded a seasoned actor, Akshaye Khanna defends the casting by saying, "Naqaab needed a girl with no image and Urvashi is the perfect find, her face and body language suits the part." Bobby Deol concludes by saying, "It was a
pleasure working with Urvashi and for a newcomer, she is supremely confident and professional."
The coming year will witness a lot of model-turned-actors, but only time will tell who's worthy of accolades. We certainly see the spark in Urvashi and from the promos of Naqaab, she is not that far from stardom as Bollywood beckons!
