| Ram Gopal Varma's penchant for making the audiences squirm and jump in their seats continues with Darna Zaroori Hai. His previous chillers like Raat, Bhoot, Darna Mana Hai and Vaastu Shastra were equally frightening. His latest offering is very similar in style and format to his predecessor, Darna Mana Hai, where five or six stories are intertwined. In Darna Zaroori, it is an old woman who narrates different stories to five children, lost in the jungle on a rainy night. Of the six stories, only a couple are good, like the one with Randeep Hooda and one with Arjun Rampal. The rest of the stories are not really up to the mark. Technically, the film is on a par with Hollywood horrors as excellent use is made of camera angles, lighting and sound. Throughout the film, there are many scenes which make you jump with shock and fright. Full credit goes to the directors for each of the stories. They have extracted the very best from each of their lead stars. Unfortunately, there is a constant sense of deja vu, throughout the film. But having said this, the movie does hold your attention throughout till the very end. Overall it's a good neat package of chills and thrills. Go for it if you are the type who gets a kick out of horror flicks. Guest reviewer Dr.P.V.Vaidyanathan |
