Producer Vishal Nihalani's Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost has already released the UK cinemas. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, this film takes a hilarious look at the effect of modernisation on one particular Indian village. In India, almost 60 percent of the population is living across 50,000 villages spread around the country. Approximately 87,000 of these villages to date are without electricity despite continuous efforts by the Indian Rural Department. Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost takes place in one such village. It brings to our attention the daily struggle faced by majority of the village people due to lack of water and electricity. Great interest is shown with this film as the look and setting veers towards the blockbuster movie, Lagaan, India's Oscar nominated film last year. Film critics have predicted that the film could prove to be a turning point in Abhishek Bachchan's career.
Now screening at Cineworld Wolverhampton and releasing soon at UCI Telford in Shropshire. |
