New star child on the block Prateik Babber did a cameo role in Aamir Khan's Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na (2008). Prateik happens to be the son of the late veteran actress Smita Patil - a versatile Indian actress with a successful career spanning a decade from 1970 - 1980. News coming in suggests that Prateik Babbar will star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production, My Friend Pinto. The movie is expected to go into production towards the end of this year with a 2011 UK cinema release. My Friend Pinto will be directed by Raghav Dar, who was assistant director to Mani Ratnam during the film shooting of Guru. He also served as an associate director for the film Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na. My Friend Pinto will be Prateik’s first author-backed title role. He has also got a secondary role in Dhobi Ghat with Aamir Khan playing the lead. More news to follow when shooting gets underway.
