Mumbai producers and multiplexes have finally reached an amicable agreement over revenue sharing thus ending the two month old Bollywood strike. A heavy backlog of movies have accumulated over this period as producers stood firm against a sliding scale revenue sharing demand from Indian multiplex owners. Bollywood stars Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan also came out in full force in support of producers’ demands. Mukesh Bhatt, President of the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), played an important part in the ongoing discussions. Bhatt recently confirmed both parties settled their differences during a recent 14-hour long meeting. This resulted in Mumbai producers working round the clock to confirm a release date plan for the movies. Films confirmed for a June release include Paying Guest (19th June), New York (26th June) whilst July will see releases like Kambakkht Ishq (3rd July) and Shortkut (10th July). End of July sees the release of Jashnn, Luck and Agyaat (24th July) and Love Aaj Kal on 31st July 2009. August line up includes Wanted (7th Aug), Aladin (14th Aug), Kaminey (14 Aug), Life Partner and Teree Sang. There are also four big blockbusters planned for this year’s Diwali celebrations. These include Kites, All The Best and Kajraare. So it looks like Bollywood will certainly be making up for loss time with a line up of blockbusters to satisfy everyone’s tastes whether it is family dramas, thrillers or comedies.
