What do you think about the new theatre? Is it an exciting cultural asset or an eye-sore?

Seating capacity not big enough,BUT THE MAIN POINT IS THE APPEARANCE,in keeping with a Nuclear power station in design,why so many different materials? If you now look at the front elevation where the Title name is displayed there is very little contrast between the lettering and the wooden facia,the whole thing looks quite drab,the location,why put it in a place that can so easily become gridlocked, and that is going to flood.The ground floor public area looks out on an 8`wall "So no River views from there"

It’s a giant waste of time, money and effort. The seating and stage area are proportioned like half a tennis ball on the side of a brick. The orchestra pit is so small the musicians will need goggles to protect there eyes from the violin bow points. If you think I could be lying just wait till you see it, that is if it ever finished. With smith group on the case its probably going to be older than the original music hall before its finished.

Judging by the plans, this building is going to be another monstrosity like those built in the 1960/70s. Most notably the hideous Market building with its grotesque clock tower.

Totally inappropriate and out of scale for the town. The traffic it will generate at Frankwell traffic lights will also cause chaos. 650 seats, two people per car will generate over three hundred cars in and out when in use. Madness.

The new theatre will be a greta validation to the local artists who will FINALLY get a venu to where they can express themselves. Local talent seems so under represented. Semi professionals, unite! (Hey Maggs!)

I'm not against the new theatre, although I do like the Music Hall for its intimacy. However, I visited the Music Hall last night to watch a play, Nightfall, and only half the capacity was taken. The play was performed by a very respected theatre group. If we can't fill the Music Hall what's going to happen to smaller theatre groups when the capacity of the new theatre is a good deal larger?

I think that it could prove to be a successful cultural aspect of this town, although it does stick out a bit. Also, in the back of my mind, it seems as though it's the council's way of saying "what do you mean, the flood barriers don't work? Look- we'll build this giant theatre to prove it!"

It is going to be a fantastic asset to Shrewsbury, The Music Hall seats 384, insufficient bums on seats to attract bigger acts. At the moment, if you want to see a 'Big Show' or a high profile artiste you need to travel to Birmingham or Wolverhampton, once Theatre Severn is complete there will be no need. I believe it will be a boost for the town and will also put Frankwell on the map.We badly need this venue, The Music Hall is a wonderful building but it is old and was designed for what it was originally intended, a music hall, not a theatre.

It can only improve the appeal of Shrewsbury as the current theatre is not up to the job.

Isn't it just a little bit late to be anti, surely any comments should have been made during the showing of the plans to the public.

As far as i can find out, all theaters outside london require subsidy. What services are going to be cut in future years to pay this.Do you not think this is just a council saying "look what weve got".
