Gina invited Jack for a lunchtime drink to thank him for helping her after she fought off the attacker. Meanwhile DI Hall stepped up the investigation, and asked all the local men to volunteer DNA samples. Most of the local men were happy to help, and headed over to the community centre to take part in the scheme.
Hayley was taken aback when she saw scratches on Jack's arm, and wasn't sure what to think when he told her they were scratches from rose bushes. She became suspicious when he refused to give a DNA sample. More evidence piled up against Jack when a shocked Eileen overheard DI Hall questioning Jack about a rape he was accused of several years ago. And although the charges were dropped it was clear the DI didn't believe that he was necessarily innocent, and neither did Eileen who warned Jack in no uncertain terms to stay away from Gina.

When DI Hall interviewed Gina, she managed to establish that the timing of the attacker leaving and Jack arriving meant that he could have carried out the assault and then double backed and pretended to comfort her. So Jack was arrested in front of a shocked Hayley, Gordon and Robbie and taken to the police station for questioning. He finally gave a DNA sample and continued to protest his innocence. He tried to explain that Gina scratched him when he went to help her - but DI Hall didn't believe him. Later on that day the attacker struck again, and another DNA sample was taken from the victim - a sample which matched a second sample that was also found on Gina but it one which exonerated Jack.

Jack returns to the salon to face his colleagues, and explained to them that the previous case that was brought against him by a bitter ex-girlfriend and that he was genuinely scared about the scratches and DNA tests because he knew how it would look.
Gordon, Hayley and Robbie apologised for jumping to the wrong conclusion and encouraged a very nervous Jack to front it out, and come with them for a drink.
The news of Jack's innocence had reached 'The Tall Ship' and when Jack went in, Gina immediately offered an olive branch, and buys him a drink. Eileen offered a frosty apology which Jack accepted in an equally frosty manner.

Bob was still feeling awkward about being around Nicki, and Deek had started to notice. So in a bid to cheer up his friend, Deek suggested they go on a ranch holiday in the USA. Bob told Deek there was no way that he could afford it, and also made it clear he would not allow Deek to pay for it. Deek confided in Raymond that he was worried about losing his friend, and that he thought it was only a matter of time before Bob and Nicki got together. Then, when Nicki told him she was worried about the way Bob was behaving around her Deek grabbed his chance to stop anything happening, and told a hurt Nicki that Bob felt crowded by her, and perhaps she should move out. Nicki tried to avoid Bob, but when they got trapped inside a car they were working on, they had no choice but to speak to each other.

An upset Nicki eventually told Bob that she was sorry for crowding him, and then began to cry and Bob's heart melted. The two friends finally manage to start talking about how they really felt, and shared a kiss. But they know they didn't want to hurt Deek so they decided sadly to remain simply friends.

Charlie's sister, Jennifer wanted to move into the spare room of the flat. Innes couldn't understand why Charlie didn't want little sis around, until Charlie admitted that he'd dropped out of university, and didn't want his family finding out. Innes agreed to help put Jennifer off the flat and the pair embarked on a scheme to make the room less attractive to Jennifer- they pretended that things were broken, messed up the bathroom and even dumped a pool table in her room! Despite them thinking they'd managed to put her off, Jennifer loved the flat and asked when she could move in.

Charlie's fears were justified when Jenny spoke to one of his classmates and found out that he was no longer at University. An angry Jenny insisted Charlie told their parents the truth. Charlie explained that he had a plan. He's been working as a freelance writer, and has already received payment for an article that he'd written for a magazine, and they've asked for more.

Jenny agreed not to say anything for now. Charlie for his part promised he'll tell his parents the truth eventually, when he's made enough money to cushion the blow.
