Wannabe crime journalist, Jen, turned up in Shieldinch, determined to dig up some dirt on Daniel McKee. Daniel had just got back from Ben's funeral and was in no mood for interrogation but she convinced him it would help his business at The Base. Lenny warned Ewan to keep away from the journalist - the last thing they wanted was for her to question Ben's death - then spoke to Jen and tried to stir up trouble for Daniel. He was delighted when he realised Jen was trying to link McKee to the hit and run!

Deek was very taken with Jen but she spurned his advances and instead turned her attention to a surprised Bob, who was fixing her car. They arranged a date but Nicki was suspicious of her intentions.

Sammi was in bits after her fiance's funeral and was NOT fit for Jen's questions. Daniel was furious and refused to comment on the crash.

Jen became more interested when she discovered Daniel's car in Montego Motors, and turned on the tears with Bob to find out what was wrong with it. She was sure she had her story when he revealed there was a broken headlight and confronted Daniel. McKee was furious and explained he had an alibi for the crash, Bob realised he was being taken for a ride, and Jen was left without her front page headline.

Raymond brought a man to Shieldinch in his taxi and was worried when he left a bag in the back. After some debate about whether or not it could contain explosives, Jimmy decided that it was safer to open the bag than upset an impatient Scarlett, and they disovered a pile of love letters addressed to Malcolm!

It turned out they were from an old flame, Jeannie, and she'd written them over the years but never sent them. The mystery man was named Malcolm and Jeannie's dying wish was for her true love to receive the letters and for her ashes to be scattered at the doocots. Malcolm Jr was resentful that his mum's history with this old man was affecting his family but Malcolm Sr read him Jeannie's last letter - she explained she was in love with her husband, NOT her old love. Malcolm Jr left, appeased by this revelation, but he didn't know that Malcolm had just made up the letter contents to keep his namesake happy... Malcolm and Liz burned the rest of the letters and left the past where it belongs.

Heather had left her pal Nathan in charging of sorting out Versus in her absence, and Lenny wanted to know what she was up to. Pretending he wanted a quote for work in The Tall Ship, he tried to get information out of Nathan. Nathan was far more interested to discover Rory behind the bar in the Ship and wasted no time in flirting. Lenny warned him off his kids but thought it was Amber he was keen on! Amber was clearly into Nathan.

Rory explained he wasn't that way inclined but agreed to be friends with him. When Nathan invited him out to a gay club, Rory was non-committal but at the very last minute he jumped in a taxi and headed into the city centre.
