Raymond was in the depths of despair and decided there was only one thing to do. As he prepared to kill himself, his car exhaust fell off and he became even more annoyed. He couldn't even do that properly!

He tried to make amends with Jimmy and Shona but neither had any time for him. Despondent, he went to the pub and ended up arguing with Eileen before trying to make a quick exit. Just as he was leaving, he collided with a door and went out cold...

In a haze, he woke up to find Roisin standing over him! Understandably confused, he discovered she was here to show him what Shieldinch would be like without him.

He didn't believe her until he realised that nobody knew who he was, and everyone had very different lives to the ones we're familiar with.

Bob and Deek had become uber-neds, running a cut and shunt shop, selling dodgy motors. Neither were impressed by Raymond, and Bob kneed him in the groin!

Shona was living in a caravan with a brood of ginger children by Tony. She was working all hours to make ends meet and had just taken a job in a massage parlour. A neddy Nicki was the kids' babysitter and Iona was living with Tony until Raymond arrived and accidentally broke up their relationship!

Eileen was dowdy and had no trace of the feistiness we're used to, and Shirley was down on her luck. Jo, however, was living the high life as a reality TV star... albeit labelled 'Britain's worst mum'.

The Tall Ship had long since closed down. Scarlett was living a lonely life with Madonna, after Jimmy's death when a drug run went wrong. And, worst of all, Raymond discovered that Alanna was still living with her abusive stepfather.

Raymond tried to talk to everyone in an attempt to help but it all backfired. He did save one of Shona's kids from being knocked down and he became determined to get back together with Shona. Roisin couldn't let it happen because, after all, he didn't exist in this world.

McLaverty ruled the roost and was seriously unimpressed to find this newcomer getting in folks' way. He, Deek, Bob, Nicki and Tony started to threaten him. Raymond stood his ground when faced with this angry mob and he realised he had indeed made a difference to his friends' lives.

McLaverty punched his lights out but this time when Raymond woke up he was back to reality.

Faced with a new enthusiasm for life, he convinced Ewan to give Scarlett and Jimmy jobs in the pub, told Eileen to invest in a taxi business for Jimmy, advised Nicki to call Zoe, and told Shona he loved her!

He put a smile on everyone's faces and sealed his happiness with a kiss from his love, Shona.
