We returned to the scene of Fi's crash and Archie just stood watching, ignoring her pleas for help. Well, he was until Deek showed up and 'Douglas' immediately sprung into action, pretending to have trouble opening the car door. He busied himself 'helping' Fi as Deek called an ambulance. Fi was barely conscious and terrified but, whilst Archie was whispering nasty comments at her, it looked for all the world that he was a good samaritan.

Word spread and soon Shirley was racing to her friend's side. Archie held her back, ostensibly for everyone's benefit, whilst the paramedics did their thing. As Shirley left with Fi in the ambulance, Fi tried to tell her 'it's Archie' but she wasn't making much sense. Archie's concern touched Gina. She was so proud of her man! Eileen, however, was mighty suspicious so when a policeman started asking questions about the crash she made sure he knew about the argument Fi and Archie had. The poor policeman was bewildered by her tale of the crooked lawyer who'd allegedly lost his memory, but when he went to speak to the man himself, he fell hook, line and sinker for Douglas's sympathetic, distraught act.

Eileen wasn't convinced one little bit and told him Archie was lucky this time but she'd be watching!

Shirley returned to Shieldinch and was devastated - Fi had died in her arms and, luckily for Archie/Douglas, Shirley had nothing but praise for him. Everyone rallied round to support her but Viv didn't show as much sympathy as she'd have liked and Shirley ended up taking her anger out on her new friend. She finally explained what had happened with Fi and Viv was there for her.

Fi's death made Charlie think - it's time to stop worrying and start living. Unfortunately, Bob was worrying his little head off. Charlie was excited to be nearing her final dress fitting so she could collect it soon... but Bob had spent so much money on Alfie's operation, he wasn't sure they could afford it. He tried to sell the Jimmy/Alfie tale to the papers in a desperate bid to raise some cash but they weren't interested. Meanwhile, Deek and Raymond decided it was time to book their friends' stag do! That was yet another cash crisis for Bob.

Elsewhere, Jamie was hanging around the deli, finding excuse after excuse to see Iona. She clearly felt guilty and awkward but sent him packing. He didn't go far though and just watched her from the end of the street.
