Jimmy was fretting about Alfie the dog's health and even Scarlett's heart was softening towards it. Everyone was upset to discover Alfie was under the weather and the poor dog was rushed to the vet. We say 'everyone was upset' but Charlie was more concerned about the dirt and smell in her pristine flat. Her mood didn't improve when the vet diagnosed a serious illness, and any attempt at surgery would cost thousands. Faced with the alternative of putting the dog to sleep, Bob and Jimmy decided to spend the money. Unfortunately, the vet couldn't save him and Alfie had to be put down. There were tears all round.
Ruth was going on and on and on about her baby, and the wonderful parenting experience she'd have with Scott. Tina grew weary of it, and noticed Scott was distracted. She had a chat with him and asked if he was having second thoughts. He admitted he was a bit, and she launched into advice about telling Ruth of his regrets. Unfortunately, they were talking at cross purposes - Scott's worried about his new job, not the baby! And now he's pretty annoyed by his friend's honesty.
Nicki was devastated when Jamie refused to have anything to do with her, and sobbed her wee heart out. Zoe tried to comfort her and decided to talk to Lydia about her daughter's behaviour. Unfortunately, Lydia's mind was very much distracted by her husband and step-son, but when Rory heard about Amber's ouija board taunt, he tried to take matters into his own hands. He forced her to apologise to Jamie but she only pretended to, whilst throwing insults his way. As Jamie got riled and started shouting at her, Ewan stepped in and threatened him!
Ewan seemed to love his new hard-man role. He drew confidences out of his dad, determined to get more involved in the business, but Lydia wasn't happy at their dodgy dealings infiltrating her home life. She's worked hard to keep the two lives separate. She confronted Lenny, and told him she doesn't like the way Ewan treats her. She tried having a chat with Ewan, but they reached a very superficial agreement; he'll happily put on a show of respecting her. He revealed he blames her for splitting up his family when he was a child.
