Tina prepared for Paul's return to school and his tripping face was making her feel guilty. He and Jamie seemed to be getting on a lot better though. When the pair were larking about, Jamie accidentally broke a photo of the Hunter family and Paul took the blame! It was the kind of thing you'd expect from him so Tina decided she was doing exactly the right thing sending him back to school! Whiteside found him sulking and they bonded again, with Paul admitting to him how miserable he is. As Paul started to pack his bags to go away, Jamie told his mum the photo was his fault... Tina realised her wee boy has really grown up and she's willing to take a risk - she'll let him stay!
Bob had the flu and Charlie stepped into a doting wife role, running around after him with a duvet, magazines and soup! Scarlett, however, is way too used to caring for her wee bubba and stepped in with comics and sweeties. The two battled over who would look after an increasingly pampered Bob but it was Charlie who won.
Douglas felt useless as Malcolm fretted about money. He looked through some of Archie's papers and was impressed by his CV but he was having real trouble getting a job. Even Raymond refused to give him a job in the pub. He finally snapped when Malcolm showed him a job ad for waiting staff - he shouted and upset Gina, telling her he feels like a prisoner at home. Malcolm put him in his place - whilst he's under his roof, he'll not upset his family!
Sonny got the wheels in motion for the creation of Sonny Burger so Shona and Carly got their own plans going. Shona called the journalist who'd harassed her and told him all about Sonny's business. He then started asking Sonny questions about his alleged plans to turn Shieldinch into a Little America! Sonny was raging and angrily called on Gerry to help stop Shona and Carly's protest march. Gerry was rather preoccupied by his coke habit so didn't do quite what was expected - he bend the rules and called in some heavies. They pushed folk around, knocked Scott over, and got Gerry into a lot of hot water. In retaliation, Shona and Carly took things one step further and chained themselves to the railings!
