Douglas was held by the police and Whiteside was most put out to hear that the doctor is convinced Douglas has indeed lost his memory! Patrick was called and he was impressed that Archie had fooled the police - even he couldn't take in the idea that Douglas was genuine. There was no chance of Douglas getting bail unless he had an address to go to so it was put to Gina that he could stay with her. Gina and Liz were understandably disturbed by this! Gina eventually went to visit Douglas at the police station and didn't know until she saw him what she would do but she believes him... he somehow seems kinder so she agreed he could come and stay so he could get bail. He seemed sorry to hear what kind of man Archie was and Gina told him he was lucky not to be able to remember.
Lydia pulled out all the stops to lay on the party of the year! She made everyone do their bit and rubbed Scarlett's nose in it - absolutely EVERYONE was invited. The party didn't go quite to plan though - numbers dwindled and even Lydia's own daughter got bored and took off looking for excitement. Ruth got embarrassingly drunk and it looked like there was a small frisson of attraction between Rory and Zoe!
Charlie was mad that Scarlett wanted a double wedding, and told Bob to sort it. He couldn't bring himself to break the news to his mum so that made things worse. Whilst Kelly-Marie pined for Michael, and Charlie moaned about the wedding, Bob's determination to enjoy Hogmanay took precedence over any sympathy! He headed to his mum's and interrupted what was meant to be a quiet, romantic evening. He turned their solitude into a major party!
Lydia was horrified to find Amber enjoying a drink and a random snog at the Adams' party! And it got worse when she discovered half her guests were there too. To add to the celebration, a kilt-clad Sonny announced he had bought the Conway Spices building and plans to turn it into a burger joint. Shona was unimpressed. Scarlett then told everyone about the double wedding... and guess which blushing bride stormed off?!
Gina wasn't aware Douglas had finally been granted bail and before he could reach Malcolm's house, he bumped into a very angry Jo. How dare he be there?! She told him in no uncertain terms that he shouldn't be there and sent him packing. A very despondent Douglas wandered off into the night, clutching a bottle of Buckie!
