Christmas at the Murdoch house proved to be eventful. Lydia had done her bit to transform the old Buchanan house and make it her own, and was obviously in her element to have Lenny, Amber and Rory there. Amber was hungover and was mercilessly teased by her brother, whilst pretending it was food poisoning so she doesn't incur the wrath of Lenny. It was clear that Lenny and Rory's relationship is not the best - Lenny gave his son a thoughtless bundle of cash and was less than enthusiastic to find a donkey had been adopted in his name. However, we witnessed a brief jovial phone conversation between Lenny and his other son, Ewan, so it was obvious who's the favourite.
Liam's efforts to dress up The Grill were impressive and there was an obvious frisson of attraction between he and Eileen! Eventually they gave in to temptation and snogged underneath the mistletoe! Sadly, Shirley was struggling to cope with her first Christmas without George and got too upset to make lunch for Raymond and the kids. Eileen and Liam stepped up to the challenge and agreed to squeeze her into their busy restaurant.
Ruth put her all into preparing lunch for her extended family but Marty was in a bad mood and Jo became the centre of attention again, putting Ruth's nose out of joint. Jo couldn't stop going on about the fact she knew Gina's dark secret and got close to spilling the beans... but revealed instead that she's split up with Luca. Eileen was horrified to hear Jo knew and had a go at Gina. Everyone pretended all was well but as Gina made a big speech to buoy up Liz, a drunken Jo snorted in derision. She told everyone that Liz had killed her son and chucked him over a cliff! Gina and Liz looked about ready to keel over in horror. We can't wait to see how everyone reacts!
The Adams family celebrated Christmas Day (and Madonna's birthday!) at a posh country house hotel but Charlie was less than pleased that her quiet Christmas with her Bob was taken over. Bob was in the bad books but was more interested in knowing Jimmy was planning to propose! Kelly-Marie knew Scarlett was going to propose, too, but she just couldn't keep it to herself! She let her brother in on the secret but was shocked by his reaction. Together they decided they'd have to stop Scarlett cos poor Jimmy is emasculated enough at the moment. Meanwhile, the Adams family were a bit too raucous for one of the other hotel guests so he complained! They retaliated by buying everyone drinks (my, how they've come up in the world!) and leading a Christmas singalong! Scarlett then tried to propose to Jimmy but Kelly had cleverly nicked the ring so he was none the wiser. Phew! Jimmy went ahead with his plan and made a lovely speech to the love of his life. Right on cue, Rose (the owner of the hotel) stepped in with a ring for Scarlett but he didn't get an answer cos Scarlett suddenly was distracted by a waiter who looked uncannily like Archie Buchanan....
