Tina had a go at Paul when he came home but he was adamant he hadn't done anything to Billy's tyres! Someone must be lying. Aye, right! Tina enlisted Harry's help to read him the riot act but Paul didn't take it seriously when he realised Harry had no intention of charging him. When he was rude yet again to his mum, she had to take drastic action. She's sending him back to school in Aberdeen. Paul was gutted but she's sure this is the only way to save him from himself.
Niamh told Yvonne she'd spent all night in the airport and Archie never showed so she's putting out some feelers at the airport to see if he actually got on a flight. She then went round to the house and met a shaky Gina, who told her Archie never came home last night (which put an end to Niamh's worry he'd just chickened out).
Zoe returned from Thailand, happy and sunkissed, and wasted no time in agreeing to a night out with her friends. Deek wouldn't let her any money though so she went begging to Raymond, who eventually gave in and subbed her some wages. Treating herself to a manicure before her night out, she was mad when Deek embarrassed her by telling Angela she's skint.
Kelly-Marie and Bob were worried about Scarlett when they found out Jimmy had left. Meanwhile, Jimmy had been to the hospital and become even more maudlin. KM forced Jimmy and Scarlett to talk to each other but while Scarlett poured her heart out and admitted she's finally come to her senses, he wouldn't listen. As far as he's concerned, she's full of pity for him and he can't take losing again. Anyway, he reckons he's no use to anyone now that he's in a wheelchair and he's not going home.
Inside, they were falling apart but Liz and Gina were forced to do 'the right thing' and call the police. As far as everyone's concerned, Archie's missing so they had to report his disappearance. DCI Whiteside took pleasure in taking the investigation and showed no sympathy for the apparently devastated family. An equally fragile Eileen was shocked to find the police at her sister's house but proved her worth when the news came in that Archie's car had been found at the top of a cliff - she volunteered to go to the station to identify the handwriting on the suicide note. Liz and Gina were visibly devastated when Whiteside told him it looked likely Archie had killed himself. However, he admitted to Harry that he had his own idea - Archie's probably on a beach somewhere with a woman, drinking champagne. There's no way he'd have killed himself! It looks like Whiteside's got a new search on his hands.
