Shona let slip to Iona that she’s running away to get married, while Tony continued to letch around. Just as Shona and Raymond were setting off, Tony and Shona spotted each other and made eye contact. But nothing’s going to spoil Shona’s day so she ignored him and sped off with her fiancé. Fi did some detective work (or lawyer work, to be precise) and spoke to Niamh’s old boss. Apparently she was great until she burned down the office. The boss also revealed he knew Archie, and in Niamh’s time there was a case Archie was working on. Fi confronted a shifty Archie – isn’t it funny that Niamh’s turned up on his doorstep after all this time?
Malcolm was really looking forward to the unveiling of George’s bench but that swine Robert got the family together and did the whole speech thing just a few minutes before he’d told Malcolm to turn up! Shirley and co were delighted but Malcolm was understandably annoyed and became even more suspicious of Robert. Whiteside and Lenny had another clandestine meeting and they seemed a little nervous of the imminent internal hearing. Not as nervous as the rest of Shieldinch though! They were all keeping their fingers crossed that Lenny would go down.
It didn’t start well though as Lenny’s reputation went before him and the Chief Superintendent wasn’t impressed. Mind you, he wasn’t impressed by anyone except Whiteside, creeping up to him. It became evident that Eddie didn’t have the right authorisation for the Docks bust and because everyone figured Lenny was dead then he’d been swimming free. Whiteside explained HE’d been trying to set up McCabe when Eddie’s plans got in the way. Not only that but Lenny was on Whiteside’s payroll as an informant! Lenny’s lawyer and Whiteside pointed out how the force’s reputation wouldn’t be helped by taking this further, while Lenny was looking for £50,000 compensation! Harry was gobsmacked and broke the awful news to Tina and the family – Lenny’s a free man. Everyone took the news badly. Lenny wasted no time in terrifying poor Bob and Charlie.
