Robert and AliceGerry and NiamhMarty and Ruth

Raymond tried to talk Alice into seeing Shirley but there was no way she was going to apologise. Robert tried to talk to Deek but he wouldn't give him the time of day. Deek made his mum promise that all this wouldn't send her back on the booze. It didn't last long though. She told Robert a lot of painful truths about her life, about how George threw her out at 16, and made him see how different her life would've been if he had been around. She got increasingly wasted as Robert pleaded he'd done it for her own sake. He got upset but she threw a glass at him. When Deek came home to find her drunk again that was the last straw. He gave her some money and told her to get out of his life. A sob story from Niamh, together with the mortality of the funeral, made Liz sign over the deeds of her house to Archie.

Della tried to convince Shirley to go back to Spain with her but Shirley couldn't leave her memories of George just yet. Susie discovered her dad's been gambling again and she was mad - they can't afford this. It'll save hassle and expense after her death and he's delighted. She was quick to point out that there's a clause giving her a right to live there until her death. That's not enough to bother Archie though and Liz tells him just how much he reminds her of his dad. He's happy and smug but she's very upset to realise the comparison. Archie quickly informed Niamh she'll soon have her money.

Niamh brazenly walked up to Gerry and snogged him, instantly becoming his girlfriend. He soon realised she's the lawyer who did time but the threat to his reputation didn't put him off. When she got wind of a big business plan of Marty's that needed investment she had a flirty chat with him about it but, unluckily, Ruth walked in and, despite their newfound togetherness, saw what she interpreted as another woman in Marty's life. When she questioned him about it she wouldn't accept the truth and went mad, hitting him and accusing him of murdering his own child. That was too much for Marty and he struck her.
