A grovelling Jimmy apologised to Scarlet for branding her a tart. Charlie was thrilled to discover that Bob had got her a pink motor for her birthday. Jo struggled with the enormity of her pregnancy by Luca. Heather offered a shoulder to cry on, and urged her mate to get her skates on and come to a decision – for Billy’s sake. Meanwhile, all was not going well in Marty and Ruth’s land of baby-making. Marty urged Ruth to consider ditching her medication in order to maximise the chances of getting pregnant. He accused her of not wanting his babies enough. Jimmy told Bob of his feelings for Scarlet.
Ruth shared her reluctance to stop taking the tablets with Scott. He pointed out that perhaps Marty was scared and deflecting the problem onto Ruth. Gina finally got to meet Fi. When she heard that Archie and Fi were heading off to a lawyers’ do she invited herself along. After a frantic dash around the shops, Gina made Archie’s jaw drop when she turned up in a striking red dress. Alas, it didn’t meet with his approval, and Gina was sent off to change into something more demure. George had a few strops when Alice told him she wanted to live with Deek. George told Deek he was worried about her falling off the wagon again.
Marty kept pointing out that Ruth was the one having problems getting pregnant. Ruth finally snapped and enquired how he could know for sure that he was able to have babies. She was silenced when Marty revealed that he had been a father When Bob asked Scarlett about her feelings for Jimmy, she explained that she really didn’t fancy him. Good old Gina stuck to her guns and turned up at the pub in her fabulous polka dot dress. However, the thick-skinned Archie paid more attention to Fi. When a glass of chianti ended up all over Gina’s new dress, she decided to leave her fiancée and Fi to it and headed for home. Liz chased after a broken Gina: she couldn’t compete with Fi and was distraught.
