Christmas Eve was very emotional for everyone in Shieldinch! Alex had stayed in the caravan and Alanna was looking empty and traumatised - a fact which seemed to escape Roisin when she popped in. She was delighted to see Alex, who said he was there to tell Alanna that his wife, Janet, had left him. Roisin, oblivious to her daughter's abuse, promptly invited them for Christmas dinner. Billy was delighted by two unexpected visitors: Della and Sammy, who'd come to spend Christmas with her Mum. Not surprisingly, Jo wasn't pleased to see them. Their arrival helped the mood in Shirley's home - George was still destroyed that Alice refused to see him. Shirley told Della she thinks Billy still holds a torch for her. Despite Scrooge Lola's determination to open the deli on Christmas Day, Carly managed to cheer her Mum up with a secretly-cooked Christmas dinner.

Freya was upset that Duncan had to go away over Christmas and Heather wasn't too chuffed about it either. Gerry took on babysitting duties and was getting on great with the wee girl. Heather decided she'd make Christmas as happy as she could for her daughter. Scott was left on his lonesome after Eddie explained he'd have to work over Christmas. They'd only get Boxing Day together… but Harry told Scott that the police were pretty good at letting folk spend Christmas with their families. Scarlett was nursing a beaten-up Jimmy but Kelly-Marie didn't know who was responsible. She was upset that Andrew cancelled lunch for work. He called to see her really late at night but he had news for her: he'd been signed to a team in Monaco. This would change everything…

Kelly-Marie tried to be pleased for him and was sure this meant the end for them, but he asked her to move there with him and proposed!! He and his diamond soon cheered her up! Alex told Alanna he really missed her and loved her more than anything. She looked distraught but agreed to go back to Aberdeen with him. Eileen was horrified to hear Alex was in town but Raymond was stuck in a blizzard and wouldn't be coming to their rescue anytime soon. Fretting, she tried to call Alanna but it was Alex who heard her call and went looking for her. She told him she knew what he'd done (he said he'd only done what Alanna wanted him to do) and she'd go to the police. He threatened her and left her bleeding in the pub. Roisin found her, Eileen stopped her going to the police and it ended with Eileen looking like she'd tell Roisin everything…
