It was the morning of Lola’s non-wedding day. Needless to say, she was very down in the dumps. Carly made a special effort to show her mum that she cared. Having spotted Scott and Eddie heading off into the night together, Harry quizzed Scott on what he was up to with the copper. Following Scott's tip-off, Eddie decided to ‘have a wee chat’ with Harry – and told him to butt out of his business. Gerry asked Heather her feelings on having a family, but she told him that a brood of cocker spaniels would be more appealing. Eileen decided that she would take Carly up on her suggestion that she would make a good trainee chef. Eileen told Hazel, and a miffed Roisin and Ray overheard. It looked like Eileen was calling the shots now in the business. When a bouquet of bridal flowers was delivered by accident to the shop, Lola ended up in floods of tears.
Marty and Ruth had a massive fight when he discovered that she’d been sneakily taking the pill. He went mad and starting smashing things, telling Ruth that the only babies she liked were ones that she could steal – like her sister’s. Ruth was devastated. Kelly Marie probed Deke for more information on his holiday with Hazel. He kept schtum but went to make peace with Hazel in the Grill. Unfortunately he ended up telling her that she’d been behaving like a tart. Hazel went off in a huff, telling Deke that he was like an old man. Gina made a massive effort for the arrival of Archie’s mother, setting the table and preparing fine foods. Mrs Buchanan was not bowled over by her prospective daughter-in-law, however, and she didn’t bother to hide it. Eileen told Carly that she’d treat Lola to dinner at The Grill that evening. However, evil Eileen planted seeds of suspicion in Lola’s head, when she told her that Roisin had been very chummy with Glenn.
Marty crawled to Ruth begging for forgiveness. He told her that they would wait until the time was right and she felt ready to have children. Ten minutes later Ruth came round to the idea. She did state they’d have to do it in consultation with the doctor. A delighted Marty whisked her off to start practicing. Heather, meanwhile, was not impressed with the constant baby chatter coming from Gerry – she told him in no uncertain terms that motherhood was not for her. It gradually dawned on Gina why Archie had been reluctant to introduce Mommy: she was a nightmare. The meal was a disaster, with the salmon uncooked and Gina having to field questions from Mrs Buchanan regarding her religion and her family. She was a terror, and when Archie pulled her up on her behaviour, his mother let him know that she was just getting started on Gina
