All talk was of Ruth and Marty's wedding blessing. Jo was still cynical and turned on Archie: why had he never got married? A long dramatic pause gave way to his admission he'd never met the right woman then he kissed a happy Gina.
Alanna had stayed the night with Vader, and told him she'd spoken to Hazel. There'd be no more messing about, it was time to get on with their lives.
The Adams family were in a right tizz, preparing for dinner with Andrew's parents, even redecorating the house! While the family worried about showing themselves up in front of the posh Bearsden types, Andrew was more concerned about his folks' behaviour. Everyone was disappointed when car trouble meant Andrew's parents didn't show up.
Malcolm was determined that Marty should know about Ruth's problems. Ruth got angry at the interference but eventually she agreed she'd tell Marty - after the blessing. Bob helped Hazel chuck out Vader's things - she doesn't want to live in the past. Hazel invited Eileen to go with her on holiday. Distracted by Raymond and Roisin, she turned it down cos she's got too much on her plate. When she invites Deek instead he's delighted but he can't leave Nicki, Zoe and his Mum. Encouraged by her progress at the AA meetings, Deek arranged to meet Alice for dinner but before meeting him, she looked upset outside the pub. She ran round the side and pulled vodka from her bag just as it looked like she was going to drink it, she threw it away. Yay! At dinner, they raised a non-alcoholic toast to to fresh starts. Alice convinced him he had to get on with his life and he should go on holiday with Hazel.
Glenn sweet-talked Eileen to find out if she'd decided who's going to be head chef and got pretty smug that he had her right where he wanted her but he wasn't counting on her hiring Carly as his new assistant.
Malcolm did a lot of head shaking as he got more and more enraged that Marty should know the truth. He decided to take matters into his own hands. By the time Gina could warn Ruth, it was too late: Malcolm told Marty about her depression. His reaction susprised him ("if Ruth has problems it just makes her human!") but he got more worried when he heard about her mother ending up in hospital, and her trying to steal wee Franco. Ruth caught the end of the conversation and ran out in tears. Marty tried to ask what was going on but he didn't have a chance.
