Alice told Shirley about her paid time off from Moda Vida. Shirley was angry, saying that Billy shouldn't be pandering to Jo's childish tantrums. Later, Shirley told Billy about Alice's trial date and said that Billy, one of Alice's oldest friends, had let her down. Alice needed to be kept busy to keep her mind off things. Billy made some noise about having other responsibilities, but Shirley told him that was a load of guff and he knew it. Zoe overheard Mac talking to Nikki. Nikki said she wanted to be a nurse like Zoe. Mac told Nikki that Zoe wasn't really going into nursing. He said Zoe only wanted to be a nurse because he disapproved, and she could do a lot better. When Zoe confronted him, and accused him of not posting her application, he said he might not fully support her decision, but he was disgusted that she thought he could deceive her., and acted like it was Zoe who was in the wrong.
Malcolm visited Ruth and was pleased to hear she was going to see a psychiatrist. After he left, she phoned and cancelled the appointment, only to find Malcolm standing in the doorway when she put the phone down. He'd come back in for his bunnet and heard everything. Ruth said she would go, but only after Marty arrived. Ray asked Vader if he was going to say anything about Ray and Eileen. Vader said Ray had made Vader's life hell, forcing Vader to give up the woman he loved, Alanna, for the sake of his marriage to Hazel. Unfortunately, Hazel overheard the conversation. Shirley apologised to Billy, saying that she'd been too hard on him. Billy told her about Jo's ultimatum. Shirley told him to marry Jo if it was what he really wanted. Zoe discovered her un-posted application in Mac's pocket. She went mental, but he insisted it was for her own good.
Billy told Jo that although he was finished with Della, he just didn't want to get married again. He said he'd bent over backwards to give Jo everything she wanted and been like a dad to Franco. He wanted to be with her, and if that wasn't enough, take it or leave it. Jo broke down and said she wanted him, and couldn't live without him. In the pub, Hazel again clocked Vader looking sadly at Alanna and Arun. She went upstairs and began packing bags. Vader found her and said that he'd come back after he did wrong, but she said that wasn't enough. She didn't deserve to be with a man who didn't love her, and she'd get over him. Vader was shocked and said he couldn't believe she was leaving him. Hazel had news for him: she wasn't. It was her pub, she was packing his clothes, and she was kicking him out. .
