Brian discovered that Ewan is staying in Eileen's room after moving all her stuff out. Ray offered Brian a place to stay, but he insisted on staying at the Tall Ship, much to Hazel's horror. George was furious when he discovered, via Ewan, the desperate lengths drink was taking Alice to. He turned up to berate her, but Deke started screaming at his granddad and blamed him for Alice's state. George's fury lead to him raising a hand to hit Alice. Deke and Lewis stopped him. Gina was nervous about her date with Marcus, so she asked Jo to hang around. Jo reluctantly agreed.

Ray and Roisin were awkward around each other following their night of passion. Ray said they were caught up in the 'heat of the moment' and that it won't happen again. Gina had dinner with Marcus McKenzie, but he wasn't too happy at Jo being present at the flat, so he suggested that she left them alone, and Gina agreed. Despite Gina's worries, she ended up kissing Marcus. George apologised to Alice. He revealed to her that his mum was an alcoholic, and that his father used to regularly beat him and his mother.

George broke down crying and offered his support to Alice. George also apologised to Deke and suggested that together with Lewis, they help Alice to conquer her problem. Lewis offered Deke a job. Deke was distraught when he caught his mum drinking later. He started to drink with her in the hope that she would stop, but Alice was unconcerned and carried on drinking. Deke woke from a drunken stupor to find his mum crying in the corner of the room. She could hear voices and was non-coherent. Deke called his grandpa to come and help.
