The police were investigating a stabbing in the locality. Cormac was informally questioned by the Inspector, and Lewis lept to his defence. Ruth was concerned about Cormac, but despite his apologies for the Jo situation, she was adamant that they had no future. Cormac informed Lewis that he was going to leave Shieldinch.

Gina confessed to Eileen that she'd made a drunken pass at Lewis and been turned down. Eileen warned her not to trust Lewis's good-guy act, and explained about his New Year proposal that she leave Tommy and run away with him. Incensed, Gina approached Lewis and warned him to leave Tommy and Eileen alone.

Hana was initially delighted to recieve a phone call from Jo, posing as Jamillah's new London employer. Jo's fake phone call was rumbled though, and Hana caught on to the scam. Alice was dumped by Mark via letter, and her attempt to talk candidly with George about the past was met with derision.
