They don't make them like Jim Watt anymore. A tough but modest man who made the most of his ability to become a true Scottish sporting hero.

I was 17 when Jim won his first world title, I was deeply sport orienated, not worldly wise. To hear a fight on the radio and watch on tv showing what seemed a "wee guy from Glasgow" become WORLD CHAMP was mindblowing. Sport was my passion, the year before I watch Scotland in Argentina, I still remember it. But I can remenber being at a night out coming back on a minibus and listening to a Jim Watt win on the radio. It was like every time he fought you knew it was going to be special. Just as well he never took up his other passion of football.
