Chris Hoy is a fantastic ambassador for cycle sport and indeed sport in general for Scotland. An East of Scotland cycling association competitor and champion all the way through to Olympic gold medalist, with Scottish, British, Commonwealth and World Cup medals along the way.
Chris, Craig McLean and all the other City of Edinburgh track cyclists that have won over 300 medals on British and World stages over the last 25 year owe their success in part to the Velodrome at Meadowbank and the expertise that coaches and officials that support track racing in the East of Scotland bring to all levels of training and competition.
Chris supports our kids club by inspiring riders and offering proof that success follows hard work, discipline and commitment. Never too busy to speak to the kids or parents and to pose for a photo, he brings a down to earth, thoughtful and concerned presence that encourages all those he takes the time to connect with. (We also use quite a lot of his passed on bikes and equipment, just imagine riding the East of Scotland youth 500m time trial on Chris Hoy’s bike …. ! )
We wish him and our other track racers continued success at the Commonwealth games and hope that our local politicians will continue to support Scotland most successful sport by providing track racing facilities when Meadowbank is demolished in 2007.
Vote for Hoy, back success, you know it makes sense !
