Image Text: Review>> The Zutons

Abby Harding of Zutons on satge on Saturday Zutons hit the Radio 1 / NME Stage on Saturday at 1715.

The Northern theme continues over the field at the NME Stage.

Everything the Zutons play today sounds like a massive hit. Maybe that's because it's been an incredibly successful year for the Liverpudlian five-some - maybe it's simply because every tune is that good. Each is enthusiastically received by the T crowd.

"This song is about an American bird," says David McCabe in his trademark scouser-than-thou tones: "it's about all you birds at T in the Park."

'Valerie' sounds fantastic and Dave's voice is on top form. Quite how Abby Harding manages to play sax, be surrounded by sweating men and still look funky is a mystery. It's a talent she puts to good use, however, shimmying around the stage for a particularly rhythmic instrumental section.

Even that bane of festivals - the drum solo - went down a storm. Talking of which, the wind and rain are back with a vengeance.
