Broadcast Assistant
Book contributors, actors and studios. See that contracts are in place. Make sure that all the necessary 'paperwork' is done after the programme is completed and broadcast. (Most of my work is initiated and stored electronically nowadays). In the studio I record audio and make notes to assist the edit and sometimes do preliminary editing of the speech recordings.
Packet of sweets. Gets everyone through a recording and editing session. Lots of things I wouldn't be without : scripts (clearly formatted and numbered, with front page telling you who's in it, where, when). Stopwatch. Pencil. Coloured pens. CDs or some medium to back up your recording. Large bag to carry everything about!
Have worked in Learning (formerly called Education) for most of my BBC career, doing the same job but as new technology and working practices emerge, my job has evolved.
