Week starting 15th March 2008.
Tanya : Tracks down the sound effects (sfx) needed for all the radio programmes. The BBC has a huge library of sound effects and there are also other ones on the internet, though they would have to be checked to ensure the BBC can get copyright permission. If and when a sound effect is needed that doesn't already exist, part of Tanya's job is to make a brand new one from scratch. There's a special studio in PQ just for making sound effects! This time, though, Tanya made some of them at home.

Jo : Visits Carnbroe Primary School, Coatbridge, to record school pupils doing some Chinese cookery. Once this has been edited it will make up part of the overall 'Food 2' programme.
Esme : Has various phone conversations with Catherine about the scripts for 'Getting To Know You'. Catherine is a very experienced writer of fantastic childrens' fiction (including 'Run Zan Run' and 'Roxy's Baby'). However writing for childrens educational radio is quite different from alot of other writing, so it's important that Catherine and Esme keep in touch about how the script is developing to suit the themes.
