... forgive me if I don't write as much as I would like to.

5th Nov 2008, Gerald

Hello.

It's been a while.

It might seem like I have left the project but I am still very much involved. I check in with the team a few times every week to see how things are progressing and because I sit next to Flora I see all Del's designs hot off the press. I attend formal "sprints" every week where the whole team look to the week ahead and decide what bits of work will be done. We also review the work that has been completed over the past week. This allows us to share anything we learn as we progress - we can work out how long certain jobs take and can also spot problematic areas before they get too complicated. They are really good to have and it gives me a really clear idea of what is happening with the site.

One of the other things I have been doing is promoting the site and the project as a whole, to different people. Last Saturday (yup, weekend working, dedication, eh?) I had a wee stall at a Modern Studies conference. There were loads of teachers in attendance and I was basically encouraging them to use the site in class. I also met people who had been using the site and they all said great things about it. It was really good to get this positive feedback.

I have another conference in a couple of weeks. I am going to be speaking to 300 people about china stories. Gulp. I'm a tad nervous but if all those people go away and look at the site and then point their classes in the direction of it then it means it will be seen by loads of people. (If 300 teachers show it to a class of 30 each then that's 9000 hits right there)!

I'm working on a few other projects now so forgive me if I don't write as much as I would like to. One of them is Lostpenny and the other other is Scotland's History. Have you seen them?
