Apple for the teacher.

1st September 2008, Flora

It's incredibly important when a team is creating a website to get as much feedback as possible from the people we're building the site for. In the case of the China Stories website we'd like everybody(!) to come and use the site - but specifically school students in both primary and secondary level education.

This evening I heard back from a teacher I've been in touch with about getting an opportunity to visit her at her school in Glasgow and meet the class she works with. It's working out really well because she's invited me on their 'topic day' which will give me a really good glimpse at how the class works together on specific topics, and what kind of activities they like to do.

It's arranged for next week, so now I've got to get busy preparing some stuff to take with me to show to the school children. Because the main part of the site is going to be very big and will contain lots of information, images, facts, figures and links, I want to make sure the information is presented in a way which is exciting, but not too confusing. Meeting up with some students who will actually be using the site is going to help me to get things right!

Time to get my thinking hat on again! I have some ideas and lots of questions that I'm hoping to get answered. I only hope the time I spent at art college wasn't wasted and that I can draw a big map of China that looks like China, and not like a squashed poodle! And I better remember to bring an apple for the teacher...
