Up, Up and nearly there!

Hi IB'ers,

Weathers a bit up and down at the moment, but we are 1/2 way there now.......Just had the next 300 blocks delivered so that will get us to the height of the extension.

I had Holly & Chris out with me Saturday, Holly was pointing in the little cement bits ( and done a good job too) she has asked me to change my name on the van to HOLLY BARNHAM & FRED!!!!!! I think she wants to take over the business.......while Chris was feeding me the cement & Blocks so we had a good head start and completed quite alot. Well I'll keep you posted.

Bye for now....Fred

Visitors !!!!

Hi I.Bers.

We had visitors from London our 1st in 15 months which I have not seen in 17 years.

The weather was pretty kind to us to while we took them on the visits around the Isle we had a great time and it all went to quickly as they flew back today.

Holly had a great time being fussed over and we all enjoyed our meal in one of the town centre restaurants.

As to the extension, well I better get cracking on that now otherwise it will never go up......im not slacking promise the weathers against me?

Arms like a Gorilla !

Well, I have moved the concrete blocks, to the extension location ready for laying...hopefully start Friday everything is in place ready cement mixer, sand, and febmix, ties, DPC these no stopping us now. OH the weather might lol.

I forgot to add a little picture of Holly and her favorite Drake (Sir Quack Alot) these two have really bonded, and when he see's Holly he jumps up at her lap for a cuddle. What a life for the kids.

OK that's it for now, I will update you end of next week re the progress.

Working progress

Well in between the good and bad weather we managed to remove the rocks and dig the trench down to the hard luckly it was only down about 2 foot, 60cm.

Today we managed to get the foundations in over 2 days, but were over whelmed with midges, could not see a thing.....who designs these masks anyway to keep them at bay?? Cos im sure they got in.

Went to the building supplied this morning and bought the D.P.C (damp proof course) wall ties so we are ready to erect the walls.

Hopefully this should go up pretty quick pending weather and work schedule which is pretty busy at the moment.

Holly had her 8th Birthday party last Saturday which was great a full house, or so to speak....Full school class, it was a fantastic day for her.

Well I must press on as I have to now move the concrete blocks by hand to get the other 300 delivered.

See you Soon.....Fred

On the move again

What fantastic weather we are having, thought I would update you on the East Indians with a picture as thier growing so fast.

Plus we are on the move with the house again, We have moved the conservatory to allow us to build the 3rd bedroom.

The sand is delivered, the concrete blocks have arrived today, now for the footings to me the hardest part, but once that is complete it should fly up pretty quick.

On the job front the businesses is picking up a little better now I have just had 2 more quotes excepted, which has pleased me. I must be doing something right lol.

Oh and I have to mention a warm welcome to Susan, Stuart and Family who have joined us all on the Isle of Lewis as from Monday 11th Aug to start thier new life.

July Update

Hi I.Bers hope all is well, thought I would give you an update on the Ducklings.

They are doing great and 6 weeks old now, we think this time around we may be lucky 1 drake and 2 girls so those eggs will come in handy for baking? They are real friendly little chaps and are a pleasure to have around. As you can see they like the pond too.

As for the Orpington's they are producing some great laying, except we had a bad accident....................someone left my polytunnel open, and guess what???

NO VEGETABLES left, I could only salvage a few plants so back to the drawing board with that one !

Everyone is doing great here for out 1st year and now getting to spend some time going out with the kids as the weather is still quite mild, but I wont hold my breathe.

I have nearly completed my 1st job, which has gone really well, so im now availible for other work lol.

Hope to hear from You all soon.

Best wishes

Fred & Family

Busy weekend!

Well the weathers has not been great last week and I have been off with a stinking cold (NOT Man Flu thought)

So I thought I would make a little addition to the Garden, so on Friday I took myself off the woodshop as I was feeling a little better.

This thing weights a ton and is 1.2 mtrs high (4') for the unconverted, it now has a centre spike in the centre filled with Ballast so it should (fingers cross) with stand our weather. I think the Ducks will like it though?

I did promise Sarah, noT to build a model Village LOL

See you soon ....Fred

One week OLD

Well the ducklings are doing great for just over a week old they have kept me very busy indeed, thier home is now inplace, I made the little pontoon for them, and I eventually made the front gate so they don't just walk into the road. Oh and Holly wanted to be in the picture too, she has just returned home from her 1st invite to a birthday party so she is doing well socialising.
