The Loch By The Heather

Bull Loch

We took a little walk to see the Highland Coos (see last photo posted) and believe it or not the same cow was standing in the same spot! Well, okay it might have been a different one, but amusing nonetheless.

Then we continued up to the Bull Loch which is nestled in a little dip just beside a lovely little hill of heather. Even in a slightly overcast day like today it's still a beautiful sight.

Is That The Time Already?

Apologies for the lack of photos this year - I don't know where it went. One minute it was January and the next it's almost December. Oh, dear.

Anyway, more photos to come soon!

Hope you've all started your Christmas shopping... :D

Highland Cow on Bute

Anyone got a spare brolly for this poor thing?

Happy New Year to everyone!

Ardbeg / Port Bannatyne Cygnets

It's good to see another fine batch of three cygnets swimming around the shore around the Port and Ardbeg.

Donkey Rides on Ettrick Bay?

Donkeys on Bute

We spotted four donkeys in a field near Ettrick Bay (a third grey one out of shot). Do you think there's going to be donkey rides on the beach next year? I don't think I've seen these donkeys around the island before (they're not the ones from Ballianlay or The Straad).

Gie's a Kiss!

Bute cow

One of Bute's lovely ladies. Cows fill the fields from north to south and provide high-quality meat and dairy.

The Old Port Pier

Old Port Bannatyne Pier

Now that the boat at Ettrick Bay has gone, I wonder how long before the old pier at the Port finally crumbles into the sea. It's a shame that nothing was done to preserve it in the first place and it's probably too far gone to do anything with now.

Loch Fad - Pea Soup

Loch Fad - Isle of Bute

The edge of Loch Fad was a thick, greenish sludge, a bit like green paint or pea soup. I don't know if this was algae or something to do with the fish-farming in the middle.

Waverley

Waverley by butephotography.com

I was surprised to catch the Waverley leaving Rothesay pier last weekend. I didn't realise it was still running at this time of year, but good on it!

I actually heard it before I saw it!
