My parents brought me and my two sisters to Canada in 1957 thinking it was the "good life". Although we have prospered, in this country, does not mean it has been the "good life". The "good life" is having family around you, feelings of your roots, being part of your homeland's history.
I came here when I was 10 years old but I have never felt that this was my country and it is not. My country is Scotland. I try to visit and explore the land as much as possible. The more I visit, the more I fall in love with it, the people and the traditions. There is just something about Scotland that you can't let go off and we shouldn't.

I left Scotland in 1987 to come to Idaho. I met my husband here when I was on a Fulbright teaching exchange. I left Scotland with a heavy heart but Scotland will be in my heart forever. My two daughters have visited several times already and have plans to go back whenever they can. I listen to more Scottish music now than I ever did - it sounds so good when you are so far away!

Hail Caledonia!

Canada, is a free country. You're welcome to leave anytime.

I was born in Canada but moved to Scotland when I was 10 years old. I decided to come back and live in Canada 2 years ago. I was told it was a good life and i have to say I have never struggled so much financially. I have a good job but rent and living expenses are just ridiculous. I am living in a country that is dominated by money and control. I miss the friendly people of Scotland and a government who cares about its people. This is not Canada. I wish I had never came here but my sister is here and she needs me. This country has gone to the dogs.

To Brent, I'm a Scot living in Toronto now for 17 yrs, and with all the shootings and murders here I might just do that and leave. Don't make out that Canada is all great my friend!
