family history There are 3 messages in this section. John McIlroy from United States--West Virginia. Posted 6 Aug 2003. My family left Scotland in the 1700's and settled in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. We do not know exactly when or on what ship. We do believe they entered the US somewhere between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland. Any help regarding the family history is appreciated. Hi, Just saw your message my late |Mother was Peggie Mcilroy from Rothesay Isle of Bute her Father was born on Millport the family then moved to Bute and their is quite a lot of the McIlroys scattered all over hope this helps you, if I can help any more I will try. Carol Smith from Gourock. Posted 29 Apr 2005. Hi Janet My GG Grandfather was born in Millport in 1869 and moved to Rothesay when his father Peter McIlroy died on 6th October 1884. Peter was born in Ireland and moved to Glasgow then Millport when he worked for the Earl of Glasgow. They had about 10 Children. My GG grandfather was called James. Don't know if this is of any use. My GG Grandmother was called Catherine McIlroy (nee Sherry). Carol
