Jeff Ingram from San Antonio, Texas. Posted 16 Sep 2005. I was in Ayr in the early 1960s while I was in the U.S. Navy. I loved Scotland! I met a girl from Ayr and I still remember her and her name (Delores Gooding) and it has been over 40 years. I still think of her after all these years! |

Martin Rice from Kilmarnock. Posted 6 Jun 2002. In 1976, during that most glorious of summers, I moved up to Scotland from Surrey. I immediately joined a hillwalking group in Cumnock. There I met a lively lassie, Sally, with dark brown hair & sparkling blue eyes. Us and other group members had lots of fun & many adventures. |

Maurice Mallon from Dumbarton. Posted 13 Apr 2002. The Loch Lomond Rowing Club is located on the river Leven, but all of the Regattas were held on Loch Lomond. We hosted two types of dances, one being the annual regatta dance when we hosted our regatta that day and had the dance in the evening. This was a very popular event and many of our visitors from other clubs stayed in the clubhouse overnight to avoid driving. |

Evelyn Aitken from Aberdeen. Posted 14 Mar 2002. During the war I worked for the Department of Transport and was billeted in Leamington Spa, in England. At that time in the area were always stationed lots of American soldiers, and we had little dances in the canteen for various soldiers and airmen to give them a bit of R and R. |

Margaret Strachan from Aberdeen. Posted 10 Mar 2002. We went to the beach ballroom on Monday nights. The men there were all charming and polite and would ask nicely if they could have a dance with you. |
