Holidays in the 1960s

I remember in about 1963 going on a cycle trip to Loch Lomond. We all got up early and made up our sandwiches. I borrowed an old bicycle from a pal (it had only one gear and looked a bit tatty). We set off from Paisley to Glasgow into the Clyde tunnel and onto the Great Western Road heading north. Much later we stopped on the shores of Loch Lomond at Balloch for lunch.

By that time my legs felt like jelly and I wondered how I was going to manage to get home. Many hours later we all got home tired but happy thinking up our next excursion Well, maybe I will do that trip again in about 10 years with a new bike with 21 gears.

I lived in Yoker we used to take an SMT bus down to Loch Lomond when wr had a day off work. We would eat lunch in the hotel down there and a fish dinner in the evening then a ride home in the bus with the memory of a wonderful day. Here in the good old US of A the fish does not taste like the good old Scottish fish we ate back then. Memories Memories.
