Leisure There is 1 message in this section. Anne Morgan from Kent (ex Uddingston). Posted 1 Sep 2003. I remember as a child the Miners' Gala Day, which was held at Bothwell Castle. There were all sort of activities with races and a small money prize for the first three. We had a tinny (a tin mug) tied round our necks, which was filled with milk and a little pink box filled with Tunnock's 'goodies'. This was an annual event and it always seems to be sunny! Tickets were issued to miners from Moore's Pit for their families.
