At night my brothers and i would watch the searchlights catch a german bomber coming up the river forth to bomb Rosyth

My father, Andrew Peebles, worked at Rosyth Naval Dockyard during WW2 and used to tell me the stories of the bombing around the Forth Bridge and the Dockyard also also the problems cycling his bike from work in the pitch dark during the bombing raids.

My eldest brother had a barbour shop in commercial street. On Saturday morning I soaped the beards prior to shaving.The wage was 6 pence.
