I was not a very good student in school.I was always at the bottom of the class Trouble seemed to find me wherever I went. I left St. John's and immigrated to the United States in 1952. My French teacher told me that it was Scotland's gain and America's loss. I just retired after 38 years of teaching. St. John's is closed not, but the memories remain.

William, I can relate to your story about under achieving at school in Scotland.
This useless kid, who left school at 16, just retired after 33 years at IBM in Canada. I ended up as an Executive Marketing Manager with responsibilities which covered the US, Canada and the Carribean.
My son Chris is a Client Mgr. in IBM Canada and a Major in the Canadian Army Reserves (Governor General Horse Guards)
Like you said. "Not bad for a useless kid eh!"

Mo
